Wolv says, "At 5 EST I will have another meeting with the new applicants to answer any questions they might have, and then in the next week or two have a specific meetign with all of the officers from the established houses to go over specific issues we have been discussing via the mail services."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "So..."
Wolv asks, "Any questions?"
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Falya says, 'Wolv, when the Houses were first built, everyone lived in the Landing. Consequently, it was easy for all House members to meet frequently and keep a sense of community. Now as the lands are expanding, it is entirely possible never to step foot in the Landing. What are your thoughts on how the role of Houses will evolve to meet the changing demands created by multiple cities?'"
Wolv nods.
Wolv says, "Good question...all of the curent houses will have, in the furure, annexes built in various cities so that members outside of the landing have a place to meet. That should help to a certain degree. I also hope to work out with the established houses regular officer meetings so that we can all keep connected and communicating. The house esp channels should help keep us all connected as well."
Wolv says, "I want to have both House only games, and a general Glad games for all...though I won't be porganizing the general Games I will see to it that we have them."
Wolv says, "I expect to have the general games in the summer, the house games a month or so before that. At least that is the plan."
Wolv says, "Veenna says, 'What is the progress on the Dire Wolves house?'"
Wolv says, "I am going to start construction on that house right now, I have been holding back a bit because I am trying to deal with some location issues. In the past we have located houses only within towns, I am checking the possibility of building houses outside of city limits which will effect DireWolf. No decission has ben made yet."
Wolv says, "In any case I am going to start the construction and then move the house after it is built...ahh the powers of the gods."
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "Dantrotic says, 'What do you plan to do about discrimitory houses(let me define when you read the question please, there is not enough room to do so here)'"
Wolv asks, "I assume you are speaking about houses that want to cater to only one segment of the population?"
Wolv nods to Dantrotic, who stands up to address the assembly.
Wolv chuckles.
Dantrotic says, "yes. because in the house regulations I belive it states that houses can not discriminate due to age sex ect ect ect..."
Dantrotic says, "but moonstone abbey only women"
Dantrotic says, "apx 1/4th of the new proposed houses discriminate"
Wolv nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Dantrotic sits back down.
Wolv says, "There have always been houses that are specific to a certain population...Arcane for casters, Phoneix won't allow members of a ceratin organization, Helden is warrior centered, etc. I think it's OK for a house to focus on one section of the population, but I do not want that house to exclude members that are outside of their target group. I will be in communication with the various applicants as I continue this process to see exactly what they are willing to do and will base my decissions on their responses."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "It is an issue, and I agree with you and the docs...I don't want houses that are only going to allow one group to join and exclude all others."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Kattea says, 'What sort of qualities are you looking for in upcoming houses?'"
Wolv says, "I want applicants to be unique, I want their purpose to be clear and different from the other houses. I want a well thought out RPing reason for that house to exist. many of the applicanst would give me a statement of purpose that was something like; "We want to enhance RPing and create a sense of community."..."
Wolv says, "That is fine as a start, but it is just a start. The applicants who want to be successful need to be more creative then that. many of the applicants spend a great deal more time on their groundplans then there reason for existing."
Wolv says, "When applying ask yourself, "Waht are we, and what makes us different?""
Wolv says, "That is what I look for."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Taru says, 'is this specifically for established houses then?'"
Wolv says, "This time slot of the forum was designed to be for all general house questions. I will answer application specific questions at 5 EST tonight."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Though some are slipping in."
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "Avalostra says, 'What art thine plans for the future of the House of the Rising Pheonix?'"
Wolv says, "I will be meeting with all of the house officers in the next couple of weeks to go over issues that effect all of the houses. Each House, Phoenix included, will get some expansion and clean-up to their exisiting houses...some don't have workshops, some need more locker entrances, etc. I will be working with Phoenix and all of the houses to finish up these things ASAP...it is my priority, as well as finishing the new houses."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Celnak says, 'what roles are planned for houses and house members? Will there be additional houses built?'"
Wolv nods to Celnak, who stands up to address the assembly.
Celnak says, "hmm, "
Wolv says, "You'lll have to clarify that one for me..."
Wolv says, "I do plan on building new houses, obviously."
Wolv winks.
Celnak says, "are there going to be any functions for the houses "
Wolv asks, "And the existing houses will get expansions and annexes built in the near future as well. What do you mean by functions?"
Wolv smiles.
Celnak says, "like defending the towns...."
Wolv says, "Ahhhh...I see."
Celnak says, "will there be a council of house officials"
Celnak says, "that hold town hearings..."
Wolv says, "That is something that various houses have organized themselves in the past, and is something that DireWolf in particular is interested in. I think that is wonderful, but I don't waant to organize it officially...that takes some of the magic out of it I think. When I meet with the officers we can go over some of these issues as well, but I don't want to organize themm too much officially, the less "government" the better."
Wolv winks.
Having finished addressing the assembly Celnak sits back down.
Wolv says, "Julesia says, 'What are the possible ramifications of a hostile takeover on an established House?'"
Wolv says, "Can't happen...if a group of players tries to take over the officership of a specific house they still need to abide by the rules of that house. Most of the officers have terms that are "for life"...and even in the democratice house where officers can be voted in I wouldn't consider that a hostile takeover."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "If a house is attacked by a group of players, I have no doubt that I would step in, unless it was a RP event run by the house and the attackers."
Wolv asks, "Does that answer your question?"
Wolv nods to Julesia, who stands up to address the assembly.
Julesia says, "Well, somewhat. I'm rather disappointed, though."
Julesia asks, "What about if it were RP'd by the House officials and the members, though?"
Wolv says, "If it's all RPed by the officers and the members of the house I wouldn't consider it a hostile takeover."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "But the house still has to run acording to it's bylaws."
Wolv says, "You can't change the nature of the house, though you can change the officers."
Wolv smiles.
Julesia says, "Oh, not the nature. Just the officers."
Julesia says, "Not that I was planning anything."
Wolv nods.
Julesia says, "Of course."
Wolv chuckles.
Wolv says, "I'm sure."
Wolv winks at Julesia.
Having finished addressing the assembly Julesia sits back down.
Wolv says, "Truekillr says, 'May I inquire as to the reason some personal rooms in houses take so long to be considsered for additions and why they cannot be considered sperate than general house additions?'"
Wolv says, "If I don't do it like that it becomes very fragmented in terms of scheduling...and those of you who have worked with me in the past know i don't need to get more fragmented."
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "Rhilinia says, 'our house recently didn't make the cut. Any suggestions for us to succeed next time?'"
Wolv nods.
Wolv says, "I already sppoke to that question earlier, and I am more then happy to give input via mail to each house that didn't make the cut as they requested. The most important thing to think about is uniqueness and RPing, not teaching RPing per se, but creating a house that by it's nature demands Rping."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "I will be going over some of this later in the applicants section of the meeting at 5PM."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Desmonique says, 'Wolv, will we be able to join multiple Houses in the near future? I have been trying to join my parents House for a while now, but I would dearly love to be able to join Moonstone Abbey also.'"
Wolv says, "Our policy on that won't change...one house at a time."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Warble says, 'Are you planning any refurbishing of the House Clerk? For instance, he should take notes by now, and he doesn't take expulsions into account when you inquire to see how many members in the House.'"
Wolv says, "Great idea! I will probably go over that at the officers meeting but we do need a way to get a good head count of house members...and I doubt if the clerk has been looked at in some time, I have no doubt he needs some new training."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv closes the question box.
Wolv says, "Falya says, 'new Will the House ESP channels span the geographic divides that separate the current thought networks?'"
Wolv says, "At this point I have set it up so that it will...but I need to get some OK from higher up. I think we need to be able to allow at least the officers to communicate over distance so the annexes can keep in communication. It is an issue though, I agree."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Kyrion says, 'Will the House 'nets be localized, or span the world, so say, someone in Ice Mule can talk with someone in the Landing.'"
Wolv nods to Kyrion.
Wolv says, "Same answer Kyrion...I'm not sure what I am going to be allowed to do on this."
Wolv says, "Shaiyaa says, 'Wolv any future for a rogue and warrior house type only?'"
Wolv says, "In many ways Helden is a warrio house, though not exclusive. I don't want houses that will exclude other players, though I do want houses that have a flavor that appeals to one particular race of profession. You see the difference? smile"
Wolv chuckles.
Wolv says, "Katrinia says, 'Is there a chance of any houses ever being built out in the wilds, instead of inside town walls?'"
Wolv says, "I am looking into that right now as a matter of fact. I would like to see that happen, but I would have to be convinced that a location outside of town was vital to the house in some way. I do have a couple of houses that I feel would benefit from being located outside of a town."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "I need to get an OK on this, since it is a change of policy for us."
Wolv says, "Thomdrill says, 'When yas says house esp channels....do yas mean there are gonna be new channels implemented on tha Amunet?'"
Wolv nods.
Wolv says, "Each house will have a pin that is specific to that house, the pins will work as private house esp channels. I am just waiting for some OK's relating to geography at this point."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Tenser says, 'What's the status on the expansion of Brigatta? Specifically the garden and workshop areas? We were told we were next on the list a long time ago.'"
Wolv says, "I just need to look over the expansions and some of the programs that I and my assistant have added to it. It is finished at this point except for that final check."
Wolv smiles at Tenser.
Wolv says, "Waldo2 says, 'are there going to be general information defined for how large in rooms a house or floor of a house can be? for guidlines in planning house additions in the future?'"
Wolv says, "I haven't considered that Waldo...I think it is something that we will need to talk about as officers. I do want to put in changes for each house that will freshen them up and revitalize them, but I don't want to build new houses."
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "So we should all come to some sort of agreement together, and then I will be the final judge for each request...with communication of course."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "I would like to take a 5 minute break at this point."
Wolv opens the floor back up for general discussion.
Wolv suddenly fades out of sight.
Wolv calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down.
You hear the voice of Wolv say, "Ok all..here we go again."
Wolv says, "Vollendam says, 'Could you go into any detail about what specific things you look for during the first round of the selection process? It is just the charter and by-laws, or do you watch what the house does in the lands, etc.?'"
Wolv suddenly fades into sight beside you.
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "The most important thing for me in the first part of the process is the application itself...you can of course send me info regarding what you are doing in the lands. I want to see what your house is about on paper, what your goals are and what makes you unique, that is the most important part of the first application evaluation."
Wolv says, "Namarie says, 'Wolv is there any word on a house for Rangers?'"
Wolv says, "There is a house in the final list that is focused on Rangers...Willow Hall. I cannot promise they will be accepted of course."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "And notice that I said "focused on". Again, I don't want houses to be exclusionary."
Wolv says, "Aonghus says, 'wulv How often aire new Houses considered, an' why is't so hard t' find out when 'tis time t' put in yer application? Are applications bein' accepted?'"
Wolv says, "I accept applications at the begining of the year, and that info is put into the news and the banner. I also respond to FEEDBACK regarding new applications when that question is submitted. This is my first year running the process so I don't know what the timeline was in the past, this is how I am doing it."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Khroz says, 'I dunno if dis is da place er time ta ask but... here goes. I dunno about if other houses have personal rooms but in da clan Dire Wolves house we will be havin' 'em an' I was wonderin since der is a option ta have containers in our rooms.. whats da point if as soon as ya leave, da janitor cleans out yer room. My question is.. Is der any way to be able to use yer room as a locker instead of placin items in yer locker AN' havin a room?'"
Wolv says, "There can be small tables put into private rooms, but I do not want private rooms to have locker capacity tables. That would allow twice as much storage for those with private rooms, which I don't think is fair for one, and secondly I think we have players with too many items in any case....just my opinion of course, being an old guy who remembers the old limits on what could be carried by a player."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Karthsun says, 'so is this forum going to give us, the more new to the game players, insight on how to get into a house?'"
Wolv says, "We have the info regarding when each house accepts applicants posted on our webpage, or there should be."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "In any case the best way to become a member of a house is to find another member and have them sponsor you into that house...I will open the floor if any of the officers would like to answer this question as well...please refrain from chating if you are not answering. It will look like TSC in here if you all start up."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv opens the floor back up for general discussion.
Pacioli asks, "Wolv, long ago (before the web), there were files on rules for designing and running houses. Are files with design rules and limitations, rules for finances, etc. still available? If so, where? If not, can they be placed back on the boards? Also, the old copy I have is very out of date (1995). The basis for determining the cost of a house has changed totally since then. Have updated rules been published at all?"
Wolv says, "A minute Pacioli."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv nods to Pacioli.
Wolv smiles.
Wolv calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down.
Wolv says, "Ok, as far as docs for construction costs etc. If you go to our webpage as you prepare to enter the lands on the sidebar is an INFORMATION link, follow that and scroll down the info doc to the HOUSE links (there are two of them), you can find all of the info you need there."
Wolv smiles at Pacioli.
Wolv says, "Gaq says, 'Is it difficult to add new rooms to existing houses , or must this be done on a strictly limited basis?'"
Wolv says, "It is not too difficult to add rooms, just time consuming to do it right."
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "When we do additions to each house we will be dealing with individual room additions and changes."
Wolv says, "Louka says, 'how important is a proposed location of a house when considering building plans Mlord? :::takes this chance to hug you and asks if she can have dat squirrel::'"
Wolv says, "Not too vital. What I mean is that I won't decline a house based on location unless that is the only place you will accept to be built. A house last year had a specific desire to be built in RR which I couldn't do because of some technical constraints...those should be resolved at this time. The only other considerattion would be if you had to have your house built outside of a town, that could be a problem."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Thorpin says, 'If a group gets together to work towards forming a house, is there anyway to allow the creation of a bank account for the money that we will save to pay for the house?'"
Wolv says, "The best way to deal with that is to have a treasurer you can trust who will keep good records of the house funds and have her/him keep it in his/her personal account. I can't create a specific account to store house funds until you have been selected."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Lmerri says, 'host "how long before the houses are chosen and how many are chosen?'"
Wolv says, "I will choose 3 max and will be making that decision after I have finished the renovations and construction of the current houses. I would say end of June at the latest. I know that is a while to wait, but I have a responsibility to the current houses, who have been more then patient with me."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Dantrotic says, 'what is your email address so the leader of my house can email you for sugestions? also can I stand up agan, it makes me feel special'"
Wolv chuckles.
Wolv Dantrotic suddenly rises into the air with a confused look on his face before drifting slowly back to the ground.
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "I have been in communication with all of the house officers who have sent applications, your Chairman had my address I am sure."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "I hesitate to toss it out at a general meeting, I get too much mail as it is."
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "LonWolvspirit says, ''have you thought more on the chances of puting forges into houses, since the last forum?'"
Wolv says, "It is something I will consider, but is not high on my list of priorities to be honest. It is more important to get all of the current houses cleaned up first."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv asks, "I am going to open the question box for a few more questions now...take your time, have I answered your question allready?"
Wolv smiles.
Wolv takes the lid off the question box. Use ASK to submit a question.
Wolv says, "Galyden says, 'Wolv, what do you suspect the time frame is these days, from when a House is granted it's building permit, and official status, to when the house actually opens? I know it must vary a bit based on House plans, but how about a glad arena estimate?'"
Wolv nods.
Wolv says, "Hard for me to say, this last group of new houses has been waiting forever because I got buiried in the new wedding system and trying to get up to speed on the house system in general. I would like to have the next group built by the end of the year but I can't promise anything...it depends on how fast i complete all of my other projects and how fast my team expands."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv closes the question box.
Wolv says, "Kelforr says, 'Wolv, when members of a current unofficial House find that their House is granted official status, is there any way to wave the 30 day period on that one occassion. Say, the day one's House actually opens? er, the 30 day period referring to having to wait that long before joining another House. In this case, the said House did not exist...'"
Wolv says, "It shoouldn't be a problem. Even after I accept a new house the house still has to be built, and the members will have plenty of time to leave their current house and join the new one by the time the doors open. You wouldn't really want to leave you current house until the new lockers are built in any case."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "But to give you a straight answer, no, I don't want to loose that 30 day wait period."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Reizung says, 'just a suggestion on the housenets, perhaps there could be some type of amplifying room for the net in each town...where people could think to people in the other towns' amplification rooms'"
Wolv nods.
Wolv says, "I think an idea like that was suggested at the last meeting, it might be very possible to put a room in each house that will act as an amplifier or direct connection between the various annexes. I'm not sure if I would want those rooms to allow house members to communicate through out the world though...I'll need to think about it."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Khroz says, 'I didnt really understand yer answer on da houses in wehnimer an' other towns..An' ya didnt really git da point of me last question..'"
Wolv nods to Khroz, who stands up to address the assembly.
Wolv smiles.
Khroz says, "ok.."
Wolv says, "Go ahead and ask again and I'll try to clarify."
Wolv smiles.
Khroz says, "well, first lets git to da houses an' about dem bein only in wehnimer"
Khroz says, "da first question asked delt wit dat I tink.."
Khroz says, "about havin ta go to wehnimer all da time fer yer house.."
Khroz says, "i was wanderin if der any plans fer expansion to other towns or sumpin"
Wolv says, "Houses will be built in all of the cities. Right now none of the new houses being built are being built in the landing."
Khroz says, "ok, dats what I was wanderin an' about me last question"
Wolv says, "It might be possible for houses to be built in the wilds as well, though that decision hasn't come down yet."
Wolv smiles.
Khroz says, "I was askin about havin rooms dat hold items like a locker.."
Wolv nods.
Khroz says, "well.."
Wolv says, "I won't allow a private room to act as a locker."
Khroz says, "i dont want to have rooms AN' lockers.. I mean to have dem instead cause I see no utter point to rooms"
Wolv says, "I will allow small items to be stored on a table in the room, a couple of wands or a memento of some kind...but not anywhere near the same ammount as a locker. Not even close."
Wolv smiles.
Khroz says, "I bought a room thinkin it would hold items.."
Khroz says, "but if ya leave an item in der.. I was tol' dat it would be collected by da janitor"
Khroz says, "if ders no chance of gittin yer room ta be yer locker.. can ya explain da point of room, b'sides fer ya ta sleep <grin>"
Wolv says, "The rooms are places to meet with friends, relax, they are to be used as a RPing tool."
Khroz says, "ok.. dats what I was tinkin.. i jest was wantin it instead o' a locker.. as a perk of da expensive price"
Wolv nods.
Wolv says, "I understand."
Wolv smiles.
Having finished addressing the assembly Khroz sits back down.
Wolv says, "Zemnh says, 'will the officers meeting be for present houses only or the 10 hopefulls also?'"
Wolv says, "Only the current houses, including the ones being built at this time."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Cynric says, 'Sorry this isn't a question but I never got the chance to thank you for building the temple for Phoenix I designed, and you did a great job with the extra's about it too.'"
Wolv throws his head back and howls!
Wolv says, "That's my kind of question."
Wolv winks at Cynric.
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Aurien says, 'Wolv How do you ensure the House officers live up tio thier responsibilites..making themselves available whe nneeded?'"
Wolv says, "Good question. I have had to deal with this issue several times. I think the only way to do it is through the individual houses, you have to police yourselves. I will step in and help out of course."
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "We all have events in RL that sometimes make it difficult to attend to our duties here, but I think the officers also need to be clear about their responsibilities as well."
Wolv says, "I hope that if an officer is having problems you will attempt to communicate to that officer to get clarification, figure out what's up. If you get no response, or negative input, then contact me and I will step in and solve the problem."
Wolv asks, "Does that help at all Aurien?"
Wolv nods to Aurien, who stands up to address the assembly.
Aurien says, "I am more concerned with the Hoyuse that have officers for life...that setup thier Bylaws NOT to allow thier replacement"
Aurien says, "i have on many occasion had folk come to me with complaints they could not get out of a certain House becuase the officers were never about"
Aurien asks, "do you...ensure thier bylaws..allow common memebrs an ability to replace them?"
Wolv says, "In those situations I will step in and remove those officers if they refuse to do their jobs."
Wolv says, "Even if the bylaws say "for life", if the officers are not doing their jobs or living up to the reponsibility they have towards their house I will step in...I have no choice."
Wolv smiles at Aurien.
Aurien says, "that is good...i am done"
Wolv says, "I do need to know about these events though so I can try to communicate with the officers and solve the problem in a way that is less dramatice then a publice be-heading."
Wolv winks at Aurien.
Having finished addressing the assembly Aurien sits back down.
Wolv says, "Aonghus says, 'Is it possible frae a group who hae interest in becomin' ae house...but is required t' wait th' year frae ye t' open applications agin...t' meet wi' ye, an' ask questions specific t' their house?'"
Wolv nods.
Wolv says, "Absolutly, I would be more then happy to give you input. Though that input doesn't promise acceptance."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "If you don't have my address you can send a note to FEEDBACK and it will get to me, I promise."
Wolv shudders.
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "Seckara says, 'Who will be workin' on buildin' houses with ya? This fine squirrel? I was jus' wonderin' so we know who ta brib.... er thank fer all their hard work.'"
Wolv laughs!
Wolv says, "I have several members on my Team. GM Iflaer, GM Tehara (weddings), GM Arden, GM Varevice is helping me as well. I do have several new GM's who are being trained to help out as well."
Wolv says, "My team serves all of the houses and the weddings, which effect almost 90% of the players in the lands...we be busy."
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "Thia says, 'I know ya prolly sick of this question, but anything on the House pins?'"
Wolv grins.
Wolv says, "Not at all, I have done all of the codong, I just need some clarification regarding geographic limitations."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Coding even."
Wolv winks.
Wolv opens the floor back up for general discussion.
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "So, have I answered most of your questions."
Wolv grins.
Kyrion says, "Wolv, this is prolly for the officer meeting, but I wish there was a way to deal with the 30 day waiting period between houses. One area it can affect is the House Games. I hear lots of people last year jumped houses at the last minute."
Aurien says, "Wolv do you have a listing of which houses are up next fer renovations? Aspis has many in the works..."
Seckara asks, "Wolv, is there still goin' ta be a 5 p.m. meetin' fer the list o' 10 hopefuls?"
Wolv calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down.
Wolv grins.
Wolv says, "Yes, I plan on taking a break and dealing just with applicants questions for a bit."
Wolv says, "I think we need to look at the 30 day waiting period issue, but that will be done during the officer meeting Kyrion...at the same time we will go over the renovation list as well..."
Wolv says, "Though I expect to be some arguments I want to get an idea of who needs what before I create the list."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv opens the floor back up for general discussion.
Allequerie asks, "Wolv, when exactly is the House Officers meeting?"
Wolv says, "We will do it on a saturday...either next saturday or the following depending on schedules."
Wolv says, "I want to take about 10 minutes here and then start the applicants questions."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv waves.
Wolv suddenly fades out of sight.
Wolv suddenly fades into sight beside you.
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "I hope I have answered many of your questions allready...but I wanted to allow a bit more time to deal with specific applicatio questions."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down.
Wolv says, "I am going to open the question box for a few questions."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv takes the lid off the question box. Use ASK to submit a question.
Wolv says, "Galyden says, 'Wolv, when will the floorplans be due? If we have the same room layout, but two different outer appearance designs, will you take both?'"
Wolv says, "I won't ask for the floorplans for another couple of weeks, though you may certainly send them in. "
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "As far as having two outer descriptions, I will look at them but you must choose one to use."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Seckara says, 'A few questions: (1) When do ya need ta see the floor plans o' the list o' the 10 hopefuls? (2) Is it possible ta get an account set up where Coven Sisters can make endowments? (3) If our excavation permit is approved, can we borrow the city's equipment fer the excavation? Shovels an' picks an' such? O' must we find our own equipment?'"
Wolv says, "The floor plan question I have just answered...In terms of creating an account for your potential house the best thing to do is use your treasurer to keep the silvers, if you trust her and she keeps good records."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "I'll get all of those tools for you and do the work myself...what a hard working guy."
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "Taru says, 'Wolv....I know that you are looking for "theme-type" houses that promote RPing, but what about a house that is dedicated to BASIC RPing and teaching for those new to the lands?'"
Wolv asks, "Tricky question, if you are trying to teach basic RPing, and that is your house's theme, then you have stepped out of RPing to teach it if that is the extent of your purpose. Do you see my point? You can create a house with the purpose of "Teaching good RPing skills by having a house based on a profesionl theater. We will help aspiring actors learn about character creation and put on several productions a year based on the History of our town." That purpose (which I just tossed off) allows you to teach RPing and the history of the lands, but there is a more filled out reason for your existence...do you see the difference?"
Wolv nods to Taru, who stands up to address the assembly.
Taru says, "well.."
Wolv says, "This is a simple, but profound example of what I am talking about."
Taru says, "what about the basics even beyond that..."
Taru says, "the annoying "DS checks""
Taru says, "I can see history.."
Taru says, "I can see racial and professional stuff."
Taru says, "but what about the breakdown of basic OOC and open discussion of game mechanics."
Wolv says, "If your purpose is just "To teach good RPing" you have missed the boat...you can use the example house above to teach all of the things you want, no asking about DS, etc, but there is a fuller, richer purpose behind your house then simple "To teach..."."
Taru says, "I guess I still am missing yer point... I don't see the difference."
Wolv says, "The difference is that in your case you have a house that does want to teach about RPing, but has no RPing reason to exist. In my example you can still teach everything you want about RPing, but there is a RPing reason for the house to exist. This is a fundamental difference, and one I really look for."
Wolv smiles.
Taru says, "for someone to aspire into a house about races or history, they must first have a desire to RP..."
Taru says, "we had dedicated a portion of the manor towards teaching -- an academy."
Taru says, "and we were gonna "get around" the OOC vs. IC via that."
Taru says, "lead by example, so to speak.."
Wolv says, "An academy is not bad, but I want you to be more sophisticated, more filled out then "and we will have an academy to teach...""
Wolv says, "That thinking you have just expressed is what I am looking for."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "I hope I have answered that clearly, I know many of you must be interested in the same question to some degree or other."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv closes the question box.
Wolv says, "Azuron says, 'Though we have specific charter and bylaws, are you going to be conducting interview type sessions to speak with officers and get the 'spirit' of what those documents can't convey?'"
Wolv says, "Yes, I will do an interview session to get a better picture of your house. And I know I will need to ask questions myself."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Kitana says, 'if we send you a house idea, will you critique it in escroll? or do we have to wait for another forum like this to get input?'"
Wolv says, "I will give you a brief critique Kitana. I try to be clear in my answers, but I will also ask you questions that will make you think about your proposal as well, that's the way I tend to answer sometimes."
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "Rozak says, 'the original scroll I got read 5:30, I assume I missed some important Wolv thoughts?'"
Wolv says, "I doubt if you missed all that many important Wolv thoughts."
Wolv grins.
Wolv says, "This is the most important part of the meeting for the new applicants in any case."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Galyden says, 'Wolv, based on my question earlier, it kind of begs another question, particularly about how we go about choosing the One plan we submit.'"
Wolv says, "If you have two different descritptions that you like but you need some input I will provide it. I edit all descriptions in any case, or retain the right to do so."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv calls on you to stand up and address the assembly, so you rise to speak.
You say, "Thank you Wolv."
You say, "Okay, each house here has a vision of itself, both in function, and in appearance."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv nods.
You say, "while we cannot in good faith be willing to negotiate Who we are, as a house, it seems reasonable to me that adjusting the How We Look portion (layout, outer appearance), "
You say, "to increase our chances of selection, assuming there are particular types of structures you have a requirement to build, or places you would like to build a structure"
You say, "is there any chance you will have the time or willingness to look at our plans, given that you will accept only one (though we may have three or four similar, but slightly different plans)"
You say, "in order to help us adjust our One plan prior to you making your final decision. This would require you to let all houses avail themselves of your time, I know. "
Wolv says, "I will work very closly with the selected houses to maintain the flavor and if possible the location of your house. I don't tend to do dramatice changes to the descriptions unless there is a real problem, and then I will work with the house to fix the problem in a way that makes us all as happy as possible."
You say, "thank you, Wolv"
You find an empty seat and sit down.
Wolv says, "You should send me the plan that most of you agree on, that way I will get a feeling for your house. If any of your floorplans is dramatically different then you should send that to me as well, but don't send me 4 or 5 ...that could get out of hand quickly."
Wolv winks.
Wolv smiles.
You say, "that answers it completely for me, thank you"
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "My pleasure."
Wolv says, "Tunis says, 'House Jakarta has submitted floorplans previously. Must we re-send them?'"
Wolv says, "Just a moment Tunis..."
Wolv smiles at Tunis.
Wolv nods to Tunis, who stands up to address the assembly.
Wolv asks, "I see floorplans, but not room descriptions. Did you send those as well?"
Wolv says, "I just did a quick look though..."
Wolv asks, "Tunis?"
Wolv smiles.
Tunis says, "I wasn't aware that we were to create our individual room descriptions until after approval. Although we do have some we can send in for sumbission to you."
Wolv says, "Not a problem...I just wanted to make sure they weren't lost."
Wolv winks.
Having finished addressing the assembly Tunis sits back down.
Wolv says, "Ok...I have a few more minutes...I'll open for a couple of more questions, though I think we have covered everything pretty well."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv takes the lid off the question box. Use ASK to submit a question.
Wolv grins.
Wolv says, "Seckara says, 'In what format would you like to receive the room descriptions/floor plans?'"
Wolv says, ".txt, .doc. or .wps is fine. Please avoid html or mime."
Wolv says, "You can use .gif or .jpg as well for the floorplan itself if you like."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Kismia says, 'any chance of building a new house on Teras?'"
Wolv says, "Yes, depending on the house and it's goals. Absolutly."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv says, "Rozak says, 'Will you be interviewing all ten houses shortly and will it just be the chairmen being interviewed?'"
Wolv says, "I won't be doing the interviews for a while, at least until I have the current houses on a building schedule. Each house can bring as many officers as they would like, thought that limits you to 6 representatives. I don't want your whole membership to show up."
Wolv winks.
Wolv says, "At this point I would like to wrap it up. Thanks so much to all of you for your patience in this situation, and remember as always, if you have a question drop me a note."
Wolv smiles.
Wolv opens the floor back up for general discussion.
