Iflaer says, "My main resaon for this first forum as your guru is to garner ideas from you and leet us get to know each other a bit better. I am not going to be windy, but let you get questions inn and we'll go from there. There will be only a few questions at a time but I will try and address them. Off topic questions may be ignored. The topic is Empaths and Empath concerns."

Iflaer says, "One of the problems you've brought to my attention is the crowding issue. I've checked there are at LEAST 2 characters of EACH profession per empath at any given time."
Iflaer says, "I suspect part of the reason you don't see them is you are stuck in town."

Iflaer says, "I envision the spells as revamped to let you get out into hunting areas and do field healing."
Iflaer says, "I'll come back to that after we have some more questions. I will tell you what the planned make up or break-down of the list may be pending approval."
Iflaer nods.

Iflaer says, "Again, the short answer. Yes, but I don't have a definite timeline for you yet."
Iflaer says, "I am compiling all the guild ideas and passsing them on to the guild follks;)"

Iflaer says, "Additions? If you mean fully implemented, yes."
Iflaer smiles.
Iflaer says, "Lauraellen says, 'what are your thoughts for the empath profession as a whole?'"
Iflaer asks, "That's a tough one, could you expand that question to something more specific?"
Iflaer nods to Lauraellen, who stands up to address the assembly.

Lauraellen says, "well... I was wondering..."
Lauraellen says, "Since you are in charge of the profession, you must have ideas about how you view the empath profession."
Lauraellen says, "and you must have an idea where you would like to see the profession go"
Iflaer chuckles.
Lauraellen asks, "do you see us as mainly healers, or do you see us as a viable member of hunting parties? Or do you see us a combination of the two?"
Iflaer says, "I see Empaths as vital to the worrld and NOT just npc allthough some of those within the profession seem to act like it."
Iflaer says, "You are mainly healers, but I have long thought an empath could and should contribute more to hunting parties, especially with all the speeling up everyone does nowadays."
Having finished addressing the assembly Lauraellen sits back down.

Iflaer says, "Merry says, 'what suggestions do you like and are doable?'"
Iflaer says, "I like most of the suggestions. One problem with some of them is you all seem to want the gods to step in and progrram bette behavior. I think that would be a mistake."
Iflaer nods to Merry, who stands up to address the assembly.

Iflaer says, "The hospitaal idea has a few merits, but would require some heavy programming and area design to implement and I don't think it is something I can get as a high priority."
Iflaer says, "Linking TRANS ANY to something would be a mistake if you mean giving you a flag or something along those lines."
Iflaer says, "Dabu says, 'since I've been around,there's been talk of our spell list being revised...will that ever happen in my lifetime?'"

Iflaer says, "When I was a player, I ws asked and sent in a LOT of ideas for the list and never heard anything back. I found that frustrating."
Iflaer says, "Several things need to happen for it to occur."
Iflaer says, "We need to make room for new spells."
Iflaer says, "I need to reduce my possibles from the 34 I have narrowed it down to now."
Iflaer says, "I need to look at implementation."
Iflaer says, "I need to make the proposal"
Iflaer says, "We need approval to make it so."
Iflaer says, "Chabat says, 'Is there any way to get rid of the any verb?'"
Iflaer says, "Of course there is some way to do so, but I don't think we will. I know a lot of you aren't enamored of that particular tool."
Iflaer says, "There are some good arguments for and against it. My thoughts on it at this time is to leave it in, but change it along with fixing the trans verb. Maybe after that happens, it will be less of a problem"
Iflaer says, "Cullien says, 'there is a lot of concern about the Transfer ANY command. You have any plans to address those concerns?'"
Iflaer says, "Same as the above."
Iflaer says, "How I am planning on addressing the dreaded ANY is in two ways."
Iflaer says, "I want to give you targetted transfers so you can trans <patient> nerves for instance, reduce experience when ANY is used since it doesn't require any real effort, and finally pending approval, I would love to make targetted transfers worrk 'better'."
Iflaer says, "Because it is a social issue I hope the players can solve by themselves rather than being programmed in."
Iflaer says, "The concept of owning a patient is the samee as owning a hunting room to my mind. You can't and don't."
Iflaer says, "Nialas says, 'What is the priority of the Empath guild in relation to other guilds?'"
Iflaer says, "I can't answer that. I do not know what piorities are relating to the guilds."

Sespyria asks, "So, my question is that if I fog in someone that is severely injured to the gate... and someone heals them out from under me, I'm not supposed to get upset?"
Iflaer nods to Sespyria.
Siwas asks, "..and if someone taps me, and asks me to heal them..I have no more right to heal them than any other empath does?"
Siwas peers quizzically at Iflaer.
Iflaer says, "Ah, then the patient has asked for you specifically and others should respect the patients request, but you don't own them."
Lavinnia asks, "But what about when they whisper the request, Iflaer?"
Iflaer says, "Then you''ll need to move off if possible and that isn't easy these days."
Iflaer says, "The goup flag fo healing requires that extra step that would only annoy the other professions"
Wyanthia says, "But I do not like to hear that the spell circle will not be changed for a long time..as it sounds like Iflaer."

Iflaer says, "Different people did the spells and did them differently. I would think it was BUGgable myself."

Iflaer says, "First off, I do think part of the problem with empaths is this world is weighted towaards hunting and empaths have long been hindered in that regard. It IS possible for the 'warpaths' but on average, the profession as a while isn't."
Iflaer says, "I don't need to be told that empaths are the only prrofession without DS spells in their base list."
Iflaer nods.
Iflaer says, "I would like to make hunting a more palatable option for the majority. With that in mind, even if you do not wish to hunt, you COULD possibly survive hunting and possibly help the group in some manner. I'd like the option of leaving town to be available thus reducing congestion in them."
Iflaer says, "I have grouped spells as 'utility', AS, DS, hunting.."
Iflaer coughs.
Iflaer says, "Utility spells would be something that aids the RP atmosphere and possibly contributes to a group, like the interferrence spell or binding. It would be CS based at a minimum."
Iflaer says, "I also plan at least 1 each AS DS spell with an additional twist if i can make it fly."
Iflaer says, "The twist is related to how does an empath do what he orr she may do."
Iflaer says, "I am tying to get a spell that would work a bit like dfredux doess forr warriorrs. Even if you were to get hit, you'd suffer less damage and effects based on the long years of suffering wounds."
Iflaer says, "And one real hunting spell directly allowing hunting experience."
Iflaer says, "The world here demands it to my mind."

Iflaer says, "Not at this time. I see group spells as one of the most unbalancing things within the world. I plan NO group defense or offense speells."
Iflaer says, "I should make another comment here to clarify something."
Iflaer says, "I thought the game balanced out nicely once upon a time when somee spirit spells were released."
Iflaer says, "Heroism and Bravery by name. Empaths and Clerics single train weapons and emapths spend half their time trying to gain CM at the expense of other skills."
Iflaer says, "With that in mind. I plan the new empaths spells to be self-cast only and also empath only."
Iflaer says, "Anyone with a toy that isn't an empath would be disappointed. I don't know if that will be approved o not."
Iflaer says, "Dabu says, 'I want to know what is going to be done about the "vulture empaths" that have invaded our profession? That behavior has turned me off from healing all together. Empaths as a whole are getting a bad name because of that and we are also losing respect in the lands.'"
Iflaer nods.
Iflaer says, "It has hasn't it. Every profession has there vultures whether it be healing, rrezzing, or claiming hunting areas."
Iflaer says, "The only plans I have right now is to reduce the benefits of using ANY and hope that they'll start interacting and stop being greedy npcs."
Iflaer says, "Everything we've talked about so far."
Iflaer says, "I don't plan to make spells just to make spells. I have been getting your ideas and researching how we could implement them as the various systems stand, or what systems would need wok to make them work."
Iflaer says, "Surtey, when he heals you demands a payment as his right. Thing is, some of you demand a tip as your right as well. That makes you seem as npcs to others."
Iflaer says, "I walk into a room, get healed and have to pay..."
Iflaer coughs.
Iflaer says, "Tips are for extra, better, or extraordinary service. If I get bad serrvice, be assured I would not tip you."
Iflaer nods to Merry.
Iflaer says, "The link would have to be in look, appraise, and diagnose to make that work, but I am hoping it won't be needed."
Iflaer says, "ANY was made because the elder empaths were jumping on wounds and not letting the younger ones have a chance."
Iflaer says, "Instead of fixing the problem, it just made it clearer to a larger population."
Iflaer says, "If the changes I mentioned don't work, wee may need to look at it again and appraise a new or better solution."
Iflaer says, "Including thee possible link o force one to look at a patient before it would work."
Iflaer smiles.

Iflaer says, "First comment is to remember a rumor is just that."
Iflaer chuckles.
Iflaer says, "I did go asking around and as far as I know right now, there aren't any spells scheduled for such a change within the spirit circle."
Iflaer says, "There was a mention of failures forr 'traveling' spells. Namely because 'all the other guys' have it."
Iflaer says, "I've heard no plans to implement such a change."
Iflaer nods.
Iflaer says, "And todate, I have not been able to get a WoR change to help cut down through traffic as you all asked for."
Iflaer says, "Ravenstorm says, 'Have you actually gotten approval to condense and change our spell lists? As opposed to submitting ideas on how to do it then having it decided that it doesn't need to be done in the first place. Also, is there anything you're working on that has gotten authorized already?'"
Iflaer says, "When I started as guru, I sent a proposal in to condense and revamp the spell list."
Iflaer says, "In the proposal, I had a three part plan which wasn't denied."
Iflaer says, "I had the CURE verrb, the trans changes and spell work all in the proposal and believe management does see the need and will only need the particulars."
Iflaer says, "One idea I read I specially liked and will forward it with anything else that comes form tonight. A change to prep for healing spells so an empath LOOKS like an empath when theey heal."
Iflaer says, "Daelynn says, 'Iflaer, I think some of the biggest problems we face is that 1) our entire empath list is available for sale in each town for relatively cheap, and 2) after we hit level 10, we get no better or no worse at healing. What do you suggest may be changed to help those problems?'"
Iflaer mutters under his breath.

Iflaer asks, "One problem is if you get better at healing(trans) wouldn't that mean you learn less since it's not new experriences to reflect on?"
Iflaer says, "A possibility and only that ight now is to make you better by letting you transfer scars."
Iflaer says, "You'd garner less experience from the everydaay wound to some minimum but gain scar ability."
Iflaer says, "How that would wok isn't certain. I'd hate to add scars and mess something else up."
Iflaer grins.

Iflaer says, "Sylanae says, 'I have heard rumors that there's much opposition to "improving" empaths from the higher ups, in light of this is it realistic to believe that we'll ever get the approval needed to change the spell lists?'"
Iflaer says, "There's those rumors again."
Iflaer says, "It is true there are differing opinions on empaths."
Iflaer says, "To read the boards, you'd think we haate ALL classes and don''t want to improve any of them."
Iflaer says, "I don't think getting a spell list change will be hard."
Iflaer nods.
Iflaer says, "There will prrobably be resistance to some of those spells, but that's normal."
Iflaer says, "One of my roles as guru is to take your ideas to the higherups and argue them for you."
Iflaer says, "Since I mentioned condensing the spells list, you've all seemed to like the idea so I passed it on without being told No."
Iflaer says, "Hope that answers the question."
Iflaer says, "Eradica says, 'That 'one real hunting spell,' would that be a low mana cost spell much like manadisruption or would it be an AS aim bolt attack?'"

Iflaer says, "Actually, if I was to make it an aimed spell, it wouldn't help you at all. It's the same problem with weapons. You can only single train and would bee behind the eight-ball all over again."

Iflaer says, "If I tried to tun you into great hunters, I would be shot. I would like to see you be fair hunters though. Reasonable mana cost? I hope so."
